Optimization of Grinding Efficiency in the Paint Industry

Introduction:

Our customer from the paint industry recently upgraded to our advanced HZ PLUS 30L bead mill machine, experiencing a remarkable improvement in the efficiency of grinding black pigment. This case study delves into the specifics of this enhancement.

Previous Setup:

The customer’s previous 30L bead mill machine required 6 grinding cycles to achieve the desired fineness of 10 μm. This was achieved with a consistent material weight and grinding time of 500 kg and 24 hours, respectively.

New Setup: Upon adopting the HZ PLUS-30L bead mill machine, the customer achieved the same fineness in only 4 grinding cycles, maintaining the material weight and grinding time at 500 kg and 24 hours, respectively.

Value Analysis:

To accurately quantify the value difference between the old and new machines, we employ the value-for-money ratio (V), defined as the value obtained by the buyer for every USD 1,452 invested. The formula for calculating V is as follows: V = Q / (C + 0.1P), where Q is profit (output), C is the total cost (including electricity, vulnerable parts, and labor costs), and P is the product price divided by the service life (n) of 10 years.

Conclusion:

Utilizing the aforementioned formula, we calculated the value-for-money ratio for both the old and new bead mill machines. Assuming a product price of USD 7,263 per ton and a production cycle of 200 days per year with 8 hours per day, the decision to continue with the old equipment would result in a substantial loss. Specifically, there would be a USD 244,043 annual output value loss and a cumulative loss of USD 2,440,430 over a 10-year period.

This case study underscores the significant advantages of upgrading to our HZ PLUS 30L bead mill machine, not only in terms of operational efficiency but also in delivering substantial long-term cost savings and increased overall value for the customer.
